Succesfull Soli-Party!

Last Friday we hosted our Soli-Party in Dresden-based Club Koralle under the slogan “join the vibe”. There was great music from Milkmaid, Jonas L. and Station Süd. At the entrance we set up a wheel of fortune with the chance to win “Berlin Air” and “Mexicans” (schnapps).
We were happy about your appearance and the numerous donations. As promised all income from the entrance and the wardrobe went entirely into the project. A big thanks also goes to the Club Koralle for making everything possible.

Thank you a lot for your participation

Your Dresden-Nepal Team

Christmas Greetings

Hello to all dear friends and supporters,
the year is coming to an end. It has been a turbulent one for us.
After the first months of planning and organising, we could finally fly to Nepal. The incredible impressions and informations we gathered there went into our project during the following months.
After some bureaucratic trouble the next milestone was the founding of our Organisation with the important addition “charitable”. It has been a little calm around us the last months. We used the time for designing and calculating, so that we can file funding proposals in the coming year and concretise our project.
We wish you joyful holidays
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year

Dresden-Nepal e.V.

It has taken a while but now we are a registered charity. After a long time of paperwork we are finally able to receive donations and to give a receipts. For an easy donation process we set up a project page at gives us the opportunity to vary between different needs. For us there is the possibility to inform you about the materials and their costs. Furthermore we are able to divide the costs into small steps and communicate them one after another. You can freely decide if you want to donate for a certain purpose or just the entire project. The form on our website refers to the entire project. Just follow the link and take a look to our project site to explore the different needs.

Exhibition in the premises of the student representatives

Last Thursday we organized the first exhibition of our Nepal trip. Next to some photos we also presented our current status about planning and organization. We were really happy about your enthusiasm and especially glad that some of you are willing to participate. We would like to return to you and your know-how.
If you are interested you can still visit the exhibition in the premises of the student representatives of architecture/landscape architecture until the mid of June.

Decision made

We have made a decision. We want to support the Urleni Lower Primary School in Sindhupalchowk. The small school on top of the mountain is incredibly isolated and just accessible via a narrow path. Especially the remote location and the destitute situation of the village makes it impossible to build a new school by themselves. We want to approach and handle this special challenge.

„Semesterangrillen“ of the student representatives of architecture/landscape architecture

On the fourth of April the „Semesterangrillen“ of the student representatives of architecture/landscape architecture took place and we used the opportunity to present our project.

At the beginning of every semester the student representatives organizes a sociable gathering of all the students of the faculty. With barbecue and one or two drinks we altogether start into the new semester.

Back from our trip with a lot of impressions we used the event to talk about our project. We presented the schools we visited and told about our experiences. In addition to that we were able to collect some donations. Altogether it was a fun evening with interesting conversations and a lot of interest into our project.

Shree Makendra Secondary School

Shree Makendra Secondary School

Last Thursday we left for our last school to visit. The school is located in Mukesh’s home town Sankhu and only a few minutes away from his house. The school teaches 70 students from preschool to the eighth class.

Again we were kindly welcomed and received directly in the teachers office by the principal and some teachers. After a short conversation we were able to tour the school. The destruction by the earthquake was obvious on first sight. All four existing buildings show severe damage. One even had to be demolished later. On a second building the reconstruction is in full operation. Collapsed walls are being rebuild a the moment. Because of the lack of rooms some students have to be taught outside or in a provisional bamboo hut. These less-than ideal solutions only work when the weather is good. If the conditions change or winter comes teaching will be nearly impossible.

Despite the bad financial situation of public schools this school in Sankhu found a potential backer, that is why the reparations can be done and one destroyed building can be rebuild. New sanitary facilities are almost completed. Because there is already help from outside and because of the limited space on the site we cannot support this school wth our project. However the school needs help in terms of teaching materials, new tables and chairs, solar cells and lots more.

Because there are lots of construction sites on the school area we could take a look at the remaining pieces or structural systems which are kept and probably will be reused. We could take a look at the structural elements of a typical public school in Nepal. Together with all the information from the other schools we know understand the full function principle behind the brick walls. We can now analyze the constituent construction of public schools in Nepal.
